Welcome to The Korean Society of Ginseng

Since our foundation in 1975, The Korean Society of Ginseng is proud to play a leading role in explaining the Korean Ginseng and the efficacy of the panacea that passed down for thousands of years through a scientific lens.

To this end, the Korean Society of Ginseng is carrying out active academic activities for the development of the ginseng industry and research by conducting research on molecular biology, cultivation, and industrial applications.

Recently, The Journal of Ginseng Research recorded an academic citation index (IF) of 5.487, ranking number one in the field of ‘Complementary & alternative medicine’ globally. Furthermore, to promote and inherit ginseng culture, we launched a humanities journal, The Journal of Ginseng Culture. In addition, the designation of [Ginseng Cultivation and Medicinal Culture] as Korea’s Intangible Cultural Asset No. 143 has further secured our position as a leading country for ginseng.

Based on these backgrounds, the Korean Society of Ginseng will promote the following key initiatives with the catchphrase [2021, the New Era of the Korean Ginseng]

• The successful hosting of the 13th International Symposium (2022)
• Hosting of the spring and autumn academic conference
• Internationalization and diversification of Korean Ginseng Research
• Fostering and supporting rising ginseng researchers
• Establishment and support of government-led academic-industry R&D research system
• Development and succession of the Korean Ginseng culture
